The time is coming… Lens Question!

It’s almost time… It’s almost here.

4-0….

2015 is the year I approach I number in age which at one time seemed so very very far away! In honor of my birthday I set myself a goal a number of years ago, inspired by Cheryl Strayed’s book (and now movie) WILD. I will be hiking Mt. Washington in a one day trip before I turn that magical number. My fantastic husband has agreed to hike it with me! He has hiked it before but he   was just young Boy Scout then…  probably feels like a lifetime ago to him!

We’ve been there together before! We traveled the Auto Road on a motorcycle!

New Hampshire 2007

So… I am asking fellow photographers this question. What lens would you bring for this adventure… I am thinking of bringing my 24MM 2.8 and possibly my 18-135 but do I need others? Any advice is requested AND appreciated!

Beyond the lens… doing good things!

Beyond being a photographer, I have several other hobbies! Obviously hiking is a huge part of my life and spending time with my family is the BIGGEST part of my life. However, every now and then I like to do something different… something dirty! Yes, I said Dirty!!

Once a year I take a couple months and begin raising funds for Ms Research! Every April I do the MuckFest for Ms event in Boston (well Ft. Devens) MA. Getting down and DIRTY for a good cause! I have raised from 2013-2015 almost $2000 personally towards this cause! I’ve gotten muddy, mucky, dusty, bruised and cold because I feel well enough to and because there are some others that can’t. Every year I meet someone running the race who is personally affected by Ms but they are there, trying their best through the pain and discomfort of cold water and hills and misery!

Tomorrow is the event… so I will don my cheesy purple unicorn t-shirt, my well worn official mud sneakers (with new liners) and duct tape my laces and off I will go!

Photos will follow! (Here’s a couple from last year- 30lbs heavier UGG then)

What do YOU do to put the good out into the universe?

Beneath the Rocky Exterior

Sometimes you need to look beyond the rocky exterior to see the beauty within. On a recent local hike up Lantern Hill my husband inadvertently kicked over a larger rock. I looked at it from afar and was wondering what the orange blobs on the bottom of the rock were. Upon closer inspection I discovered the beauty hiding underneath…

I think I am one lucky gal!

You gotta stop and appreciate the world beneath your feet… or boots in this case!

Montana on my Mind…

Recently I had the privilege to travel to Montana to photograph the wedding of two beautiful people who I hadn’t ever met in person before but instantly felt like I had known forever… a true blessing to be a part of their special day and the days leading up to it!

I also was fortunate to have some time to site see and travel around the Bozeman, Montana area! I instantly fell in love with the raw beauty of the area. The contrasts between the flat plains and rising sharp mountains… a photographer’s dream!

In the coming week or so I will be sharing a bunch of photos from my trip!

Here’s the first one! It is also available for sale in my Fine Art Retail Gallery online…

This was an amazing Teepee I saw on the banks of the Gallatin River near the Bride and Groom’s home… there will be a lot of photos from this area because it was FULL of inspiration!
